About "Suburbia"

After heading to Europe to make "Before Sunrise," Director Richard Linklater returned to Austin to film his adaptation of Eric Bogosian's play "SubUrbia." The film follows an aimless gang of suburban slackers as they spend an evening hanging out at a local convenience store, in hopes of seeing an old high-school buddy whose career as a rock singer is about to hit the big-time. The film built on many of the themes in Linklater’s earlier Gen X opus, "Slacker," and utilized the who’s-who of young actors of the era, including Giovanni Ribisi, Steve Zahn and Parker Posey.
